Happy National Ice Cream Day! Hot temperatures in Arkansas mean it is time for some delicious, cold ice cream!

Join Taste Arkansas as we celebrate all week long with delicious homemade ice cream recipes. We will also be giving away an ice cream maker at the end of the week. So, get ready to gather around and celebrate this creamy treat.

Until then, I thought I would help make your ice cream life easier. Yes, I am talking brain freezes. Here are some tips to help you when that unexpected cold rush happens.

  • Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. This warms up the blood vessels in the areas that have constricted in response to the cold.
  • Press your hands over your nose and mouth and breathe rapidly, trapping the warm air of your breath and raising the temperature around your shocked frozen face.
  • Drink a glass of warm water to thaw out your mouth and throat.
  • Best idea, but really hard to follow — try eating your ice cream slowly, and in smaller bites!

Get your taste buds ready, tomorrow we will share a wonderful peach ice cream recipe.

Enjoy! The Park Wife
