Vets Needed: A Day at the 4-H Veterinary Science Camp

In June, teens from across Arkansas participated in a three-day Arkansas 4-H Veterinary Science Camp at the Pauline Whitaker Arena on the University of Arkansas campus. They took part in a variety of hands-on sessions with veterinarians, getting the feel for working with honeybees, horses and cattle. Lloyd Keck of West Fork earned his degree from the LSU Veterinary School and returned to Arkansas to practice. He represented the school at the camp and met with students interested in pursuing a career in the field. He shared his thoughts on the value of the camp and need for more large animal veterinarians.
